Dressing up your TWA

One concern many women have before doing the BC  is the TWA (teeny weeny afro) phase.  Trust me I understand.  At first I wanted to be a long term transitioner (1.5-2yrs) because I have never  had short hair.  I changed my mind! Now I am embracing this change. I don't worry about that anymore! There are 5 different ways to dress up your twa and still look fabulous!
Accessorize- Hair accessories will become your best friend. You can get anything from hair clips, half hats, scarves to head bands and bandannas; Feathers are in this summer and are great for a casual jean and t-shirt look or a more glamorous night on the town. Spice up your TWA with any of the accessories and you can show off your creative side and look glamorous at the same time.
Experiment with different styles- Depending on the length of your twa, you can play around with twists, braids, twist-outs, and braid-outs. This will add pizazz to your cropped do. I found that twist-outs work best for me.  You can twist or braid your hair at night and take it out the next day. It usually enlogates the hair and lasts for a couple more days. Twists and braids are also great protective styles and helps hold in moisture.
Jewelry- Earrings brighten up your face. They are pretty much a necessity with short hair. Your earrings do not have to be huge! You can wear something simple and cute.  I wear both studs and bigger earrings, but it just depends on what mood I’m in and what I’m wearing.  Earrings are another way to express your creativity and style.
Makeup- Since your hair is short, make-up is going to really pop. So pull out that fancy eye shadow that you save for special occasions. When rocking a twa, everyday should be dramatic. Line your eyelids with a dramatic liners. Dress up your eye lashes with mascara. Try a bold lip color! Make it fierce and own it!

Have Confidence ladies- This is very important. If you don’t think your natural twa is fabulous and don’t exude confidence it will be hard for others to appreciate it.  You have to love it before anyone else does.  It might take some getting used to at first, but work it! Your twa is already looking great with its own unique flare!  Embrace the change!
