9 Months Post Big Chop

It has been forever since I've posted anything! Here is an update on my hair 9 months after BC.  I just got  it colored about a week and a half ago and it's growing out nicely.  Yesterday I did a WNG and before going to bed, I banded my hair.  This morning when I took it out, it was stretched into a nice curly fro :)

Product Review--Curls Goddess Curls

Curls--Goddess Curls
            $8 at Target

Ingredients: water, sorbitol, polyacrylate-14, polyquaternium-7, polysorbate 20, fruit certified organic mangifera indica (mango) seed butter, plumeria alba flower extract, biosaccharide gum-1, carbomer, certified organic butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, aminomethyl propanol, tetrasodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, DMDM hydantoin

Review: "Botanical curl gel to define, defrizz and hold curls"
I really do like this gel.  Normally I don't use alot of gels, but this one is very light and it does not cause my hair to flake.   It gives a medium to strong hold, but does not leave my hair crunchy.  My curls were definitely defined with no frizz.  I section my hair (to distribute product evenly to my thick hair) while it's soaking wet and shingle through.  ***I use a spray bottle to rewet any dry spots before applying the gel. After applying the product thoroughly, I do not touch my hair.  This eliminates frizz!

I have not tried this alone, but I use over a leave in.  The leave in that I'm currently using is Oyin handmade--Hair Dew.  I will do a review for that one later.  My only con would be that it's a bit thin, so I have to use a lot at once to feel like anything is going on my hair (Probably 2-4 pumps per section).  Also, it has no smell, but that doesn't bother me.  Usually I like products that smell sweet, but my leave in smells like cookies, so it makes up for it. I would purchase this product again because, I like the price and when I use this gel I get tons of compliments on my hair! :)

Product Review for Curls--Lavish Curls Moisturizer

Post image for Curls Lavish Curls Moisturizer

Curls--Lavish Curls Moisturizer
            $10 at Target

Ingredients: water, glycerin, polysorbate 80, methylheptyl isostearate, silk amino acids, certified organic anthemis nobilis flower extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, certified organic camelllia sinensis leaf extract, citric acid, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, disodium EDTA, potassium sorbate, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, fragrance

Review: I received this product through a swap from one of my friends.  I love this spray! It's great on second day hair and it literally SAVES a bad hair day.  Has tons of slip!!! It's very moisturizing, lightweight, and non greasy.  It has a pleasant fruity smell.  The only con about this spray is the way it squirts out.  It squirts out in a straight stream, so it's hard to spray alot of hair at once.  It's kind of weird lol! I use this by itself, but I want to try this underneath of the curls souffle' to see how it turns out.  I have used it on dry and damp hair and get great results with both.

If you want defined curl with no hold or frizz you should try it.  It's very moisturizing and leaves your hair feeling soft.  Smells great too!

Frugal Hair Products

Love this list of frugal hair products that compare to the really expensive ones.  I will be trying Silk Elements mixed silk for $6.00 to see if it is as good as the mixed chicks brand.  The mixed chicks leave in is currently one of my staples, but I can't see myself paying $20.00 again.
